FoodPrints is an education project of FRESHFARM in partnership with the DC Public Schools. FoodPrints aims to make positive changes in what children and their families eat through highly engaging, hands-on experiences with growing, harvesting, cooking, and preparing nutritious, local foods in season. We engage students and families in teaching kitchens and school gardens at school and at home with family-friendly, affordable recipes. In the 2016/2017 school year, FoodPrints will partner with nine schools serving approximately 12% of all DCPS elementary students, many of whom are from underserved populations and high-poverty areas.
Our Chef at Market project featured nearly 150 of Washington’s most renowned restaurants, educators, nutritionists, cookbook authors and home cooks, exposing them to consumers and to the farmers and food producers in our markets.
